Your Questions, Answered
-
Your first session is about understanding where you’re at and what you’d like to work on. We’ll talk about what brings you in, how therapy works, and collaboratively shape next steps.
Sessions can be as structured or as relaxed as you’d like. You might arrive with clear questions or goals, or you might feel unsure about where to start — both are completely okay. As trained therapists, we can help guide the conversation if that’s helpful. Let us know what feels right for you, or we’ll follow your lead.

Everyone’s experience is different. Some people find benefit in a few sessions, others in longer-term work. We regularly check in together to tailor the pace and focus to you.
-
You don’t need a referral to see a psychologist, but a referral from your GP will make you eligible for Medicare rebates. We can talk through this process with you.
Otherwise, more information can be found here: xxx -
A Mental Health Care Plan is created by your GP and allows you to access Medicare rebates for psychology sessions, meaning they refund you part of the cost.
With a valid plan, you may be eligible for up to 10 rebated sessions per calendar year (subject to Medicare eligibility). You are welcome to continue therapy, paying privately, once you have used these sessions.
You don’t need a Mental Health Care Plan to attend therapy — it’s simply one option to help reduce the cost.

Telehealth sessions function much like in-person sessions. You’ll need a private, quiet space and a reliable internet connection.
